Is training on a stability ball better for gaining muscle size?
Training this way can be a good thing for someone just looking to tone up, enhance athletic ability or maybe just work on the abs. If you are looking for increases in muscle size though training on a stability ball actually reduces the overload on the muscle and although it is typically harder to perform because of lack of balance and stability that doesn’t really translate into increases in muscle size. So the take home point here is to stick with the proven basic compound movements like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, rows, etc. for gaining maximum muscle size.
